ONE TWO BUCKLE MY SHOE
On a combine with his dad baling hay, seven year old STEVE SIMPSON has a tragic accident which maims him. Able to conceal his disability for years, he eventually becomes a well known and gifted shoemaker. One of his clients is fifteen year old GLENN TREMILL, born with a deformed foot. His parents had Steve create a special shoe a few years back, but it is now raggedy, causing ridicule from other kids and contempt from Glenn toward the shoemaker. They call upon Steve again to create new shoes, but this time with better material.
Promising the Tremills, and knowing the leather he needs may be non-existent, he searches everywhere, only to come out empty-handed. Feeling the pressure, Steve calls upon his retired father, EB, who leads him to an eccentric leather expert simply known as MR. BUCKLES. Eb warns him Mr. Buckles is “touched” and quite delusional, and gives him directions to Buckles’ home out in the boonies.
Buckles, in his strange and mysterious way, manages to give Steve directions on how to create the much sought-after shoe. But, the magical Mr. Buckles doesn’t tell Steve the material must come at the expense of extreme danger and lost lives.
